Cookie Policy

To make this site work properly, we sometimes place small data files called cookies on your device. This document provides detailed information on the cookies we use and how to manage them.

What are Cookies?

A cookie is a small text file that a website saves on your computer or mobile device when you visit the site. It enables the website to remember your actions and preferences over a period of time, so you don’t have to keep re-entering them whenever you come back to the site or browse from one page to another.

Types of Cookies

Cookies can be divided into different categories according to their characteristics and use:

  • Necessary cookies (to remember, if you have agreed (or not) to our use of cookies on this site).

Enabling these cookies is not strictly necessary for the website to work but it will provide you with a better browsing experience. You can delete or block these cookies, but if you do that some features of this site may not work as intended. These cookies are not used for any purpose other than those described here.

  • Analytics and performance cookies

These cookies are used to collect and analyse the traffic and use of the website anonymously. While these cookies do not identify the user, they can, for example, detect if the same user returns to the website at different times. They also allow the system to be monitored and to improve its performance and usability. These cookies can be disabled without any loss of functionality.

  • Profiling cookies

These permanent cookies are used to identify (anonymously and not) users’ preferences and improve their browsing experience.

Third-party Cookies

When visiting a website you may receive cookies both from the website visited (“first party”: Cookie consent), and from websites managed by other organisations (“third parties”). To release this type of cookie, user consent may be necessary. An important example of this can be found in the “social plug-ins” for Facebook and LinkedIn. These parts of the visited page are generated directly by said websites and integrated into the host website’s page. Social plug-ins are commonly used to share content on social networks.

The presence of these plug-ins involves sending cookies to and from websites all run by third parties. Please refer to the relevant policies to see how the information collected by “third parties” is managed. To guarantee greater transparency and convenience, below are the web addresses of the different cookie management policies and procedures.

  • Facebook policy: see here
  • Facebook (configuration): log in to your account. Privacy section.
  • Linkedin policy: see here
  • Linkedin (configuration): log in to your account. Privacy section.
  • Google Analytics

WEnCo website also includes some add-ons sent by Google Analytics, a web traffic analysis service provided by Google, Inc. (“Google”). This also involves third party cookies gathered and managed anonymously to monitor and improve the host website’s performance (performance cookies).

Google Analytics uses cookies to gather and analyse information anonymously on user behaviour of the website (excluding the user’s IP address). This information is gathered by Google Analytics, which processes it to compile reports for WEnCo operators regarding the activities on the websites themselves.

For more information, please click on the following link: Google Privacy & Terms

Users may selectively disable Google Analytics by installing the opt-out add-on provided by Google. To disable Google Analytics, please click on the following link: Google Tools

Duration of Cookies

Some cookies (session cookies) only remain active until the browser is closed or until the user logs out. Other cookies “survive” after the browser has been closed and are available on subsequent user visits. These are known as persistent cookies and their duration is defined by the server when they are created. In some cases, an expiry date is defined; in other cases, their duration is indefinite.

While browsing on the pages of this website, however, you may interact with websites managed by third parties that can create or modify permanent and profiling cookies.

How to control Cookies?

You can delete all cookies that are already on your computer and you can set most browsers to prevent them from being placed. If you do this, however, you may have to manually adjust some preferences every time you visit a site and some services and functionalities may not work.

Disabling “third party” cookies will not affect your browsing in any way.

Settings can be defined specifically for different websites and web applications. The best browsers will also allow you to use different settings for “first party” and “third party” cookies.
